In a frying pan over medium heat, sweat the shallots in the butter, add the cranberries and maple syrup.Cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring constantly.Add the diced ham and turnip, cover and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes or until the turnips are tender.Stir from time to time.Serve with pearl barley.
