While Nanaimo bars are easy to make at home, our ready-to-eat version (available in the bakery department at your Metro store) will have you enjoying this little piece of heaven in no time. Why not use them as an inspiration to create unique desserts?

Nanaimo Parfaits

These beautiful Nanaimo-inspired layered parfaits are sure to impress your guests!

How-to:

  • Cut Nanaimo bars into small chunks and place them at the bottom of some glasses.
  • Alternate layers of your favourite pudding or mousse—we suggest both vanilla and chocolate flavours—and Nanaimo bar chunks until glasses are filled to the top.
  • Chill for at least 10 minutes in the fridge before serving.

Kids and adults alike will love these! These cute little pops are as fun to prepare as they are to enjoy. Be creative with the toppings; the possibilities are endless!

How-to:

  • Cut the bars into small squares. Roll the squares between your palms to form balls.
  • Insert the tip of a lollipop stick into each ball or square.
  • Dip into melted white or semi-sweet chocolate and gently shake off the excess.
  • Roll into your favourite toppings (sprinkles, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, etc.).
  • Place in the freezer for 10 minutes, or until the chocolate is set and the pops are firm.
Creamy Nanaimo Ice Cream Popsicles

Beware, these frozen pops are highly addictive! Creamy vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge and chunks of Nanaimo bars come together for the most delicious summertime treat.

How-to:

  • Cut the bars into small chunks.
  • Place a few scoops of vanilla ice cream in a large bowl.
  • Add Nanaimo chunks to the ice cream and mix with a spoon.
  • Fill popsicle molds with a few tablespoons of the Nanaimo ice cream mixture.
  • Add a drizzle of chocolate sauce if desired.
  • Top with the remaining ice cream mixture.
  • Using a popsicle stick, make a few swirls to mix the chocolate sauce.
  • Carefully insert a popsicle stick into each mold and place in the freezer until set, at least 3-4 hours.
  • To remove the popsicles, run the molds under hot water until you can easily pull them out.
