How Long Can You Keep Leftovers

The abundant dishes laid out on holiday tables always result in leftovers. And though it might be tempting to eat that mouthwatering casserole days later, is it still safe to eat? Consult our handy chart below to find out how quickly you should consume all your favourite leftovers stored in the fridge and freezer.

Whether refrigerated or frozen, food has to be properly wrapped or packaged, unless otherwise indicated. When freezing food, use airtight containers, bags or packaging wrap. Label foods with name and date so that you can see what you have in the freezer and ensure proper rotation.

Even past the recommended storage date, most foods are safe to eat but they have less flavour and nutritional value.
